AR Blue Clean AR118 Power Washer Review

Small, Affordable and Practical, This Pressure Washer Is Suitable for Most Residential Cleaning Jobs

When faced with a huge selection of pressure washers, people often make the mistake of getting the most powerful one for the money they are willing to shell out. OK, maybe mistake is too harsh a word but hear me out.

You buy the most powerful pressure washer and clean stuff like furniture fabric, windows, your car, or your garden furniture. There’s nothing wrong with that except for the vast amount of power going unused. Basically you’ve spent a lot of money on something you don’t really need.

There’s smarter way of going about it. Simply buy something according to your cleaning needs. If you don’t have a huge driveway or masses of furniture to clean you are better off with a smaller, less powerful pressure washer designed for small and medium-scale cleaning jobs around your home.

When looking for a small, portable pressure washer I came across the AR Blue Clean AR118 1,500 PSI 1.5 GPM Hand Carry Pressure Washer which is electric. This is one of two pressure washers made by AR I have reviewed. Let’s take a closer look at this one.

Basic Info, Features and Specs

I suppose you could classify this pressure washer as a low-power, hand-held electric unit. Now, while you might be tempted to read that “low-power” label as a con I actually meant it in good way. Even though 1500 PSI and 1.6 GPM aren’t exactly record-breaking numbers, they are more than enough for just about any residential cleaning job. Also, you would be hard pressed to find a more powerful pressure washer for this kind of money. As far as small, affordable models are concerned this (as far as I’m concerned) is one of the best on the market.

Portability and Ease of Use

This is one of the smallest pressure washers I have reviewed on my website. Since it is hand-held, and really light it is a breeze to carry around unlike some of the other models in its class. See how my rambling is starting to make sense now? It isn’t the most powerful, but it has lots of other things going for it which are more important as far as residential use is concerned.

Stuff like compact design, low weight and outstanding portability is more important here. This device weighs just 12lbs which means you can use it for hours at a time, and your arms won’t suffer as a result. Adding to portability is the 30 foot power cord as well as a 20 foot hose.

Noise Levels

Seeing as this is an electric pressure washer you would expect it to be quiet, and you would be right. This model has a small induction motor at its core which doesn’t emit that much noise. There are some quieter washers out there, so this one comes off a bit noisier since it’s not housed in a large case (which usually deafens some of the sound produced by the motor). Overall though, I would rate this unit as quiet.

Additional Features

I would not necessarily call it a feature, but the design is a pleasant surprise. It’s an example of how form follows function.

Once you are done using the gun, you can put it away on the side of the unit. There is more of the same with regards to the power cord and hose which all adds up to a tidy looking device when it’s not in use. Something else that surprised me considering this is a small electric pressure washer is it has a detergent tank which can be attached to the wand.

In my opinion, this is a textbook example of a small, practical and portable pressure washer which can handle nearly all household cleaning tasks. It’s quiet, compact, and affordable. I also like the hand-held design.

It may not be the most powerful washer out there, but it is more than sufficient for those of you who don’t spend a lot of time doing hardcore cleaning jobs. If you are interested in buying one, or taking a look at what others have to say about this little beast feel free to look for it on Amazon. You never know, they might have an offer on the price!
